Turrets
Attaching to a teammate puts multiple pilots on one ship.
Attach: select a teammate in the statbox, then press F7 at full energy. Detach: press F7 again. As the carrier, F7 releases all your turrets.
| Pilot | Movement | Weapons and energy |
|---|---|---|
| Carrier | Moves both; turret load may affect speed | Own weapons and energy; takes damage |
| Turret | Independent rotation, no thrust | Own weapons and energy; takes damage too |
Turreting
Tag along for a ride
Attached, you have no engine at all — you are wherever your carrier is, and thrusting does nothing. You rotate freely and independently of the carrying ship, you fire your own guns and bombs, and you keep your own energy bar, items and abilities.
Damage
Everything hits
You and your carrier occupy the same point, so a bullet or bomb that hits their ship hits both of you, taking damage out of both your energy bars. A turret is not extra health for the carrier.
The carrier
Lower thrust
Turrets can potentially impact your thrust and your top speed. How many turrets a ship can have is a ship setting.
Detaching
The attach key, from either side
F7 detaches you immediately from your carrier. If anyone is attached to you, the same key throws all of them off instead, whatever the statbox happens to be pointing at. Getting on in the first place, and what stops you, is on Movement.
